The SantoSanto Pottery website is nothing more than my way of sharing my pottery journey with you. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

My interest in art began at an early age.  I remembered in Elementary School enjoying any activity that involved drawing or painting.  In Junior High School (aka, Middle School) I was able to take an art class from a special art teacher.  Mr. Little introduced me to various types of painting, printmaking and sculpture.  I even took his class in summer school, just for fun. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

High School was the first time I saw a pottery wheel.  I took the clay class and learned to use the wheel rather quickly.  I remember throwing pots came easily for me and that I received a good grade for the class. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

When it became time to graduate high school and to pick a college major,  I decided to become an artist.  To my confusion, I received no support for my choice.  My parents felt I could not make a living as an artist and my school counselor basically shared my parents feelings.  <\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

So to make everyone happy, I decided to become a draftsman, because at least as a draftsman I was able to draw.<\/p>\n

During the 30 plus years that I worked as an engineer, I kept art close to my heart. I visited art museums, read about art, and painted as a hobby in water color and oils.\u00a0 Then in 2011, I created a website for a La Verne business called, Mud Shack.\u00a0\u00a0The owner offer me the use of her pottery wheel and I found the joy of creating pottery after 42 years.<\/p>\n

A potter is “One who makes pottery”, but when used as a verb, the word potter means “to waste (time)”, such as ” to potter the day away”.\u00a0 Which is what happens when I work in my studio, time seems to change its measure. The act of pottering the day away gives me a break from this crazy world we live in, provides a creative release that was missing from my life since high school, and gives me the joy of giving.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n

My daughter asked me to throw some pottery she wanted. With out me knowing, she captured me on video, then created a nice video reel as a little gift for me. I thought you might enjoy seeing it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
